Event Themes

Through the season, there are several Events that have a consistent theme, or occurrences, that happens from year to year. While each game will have it's own unique story and spin to tell, many events can, much like real world holidays, occur around the same time each year.

Seasonal Events

Festival

The September event is always themed around a Summer/Fall festival. This marks the appearance of the infamous De La Vega carnival family, lovingly referred to as "The Carnies" who arrive in time with the express purpose of separating fools from their money. They frequently bring games and shows as a way of earning your hard earned crown, as well as introduce interesting and sometimes reoccurring story elements.

In addition to the Carnies, the game often sets up and coordinates merchant booths that allow both in-game and external parties to sell wares for both in and out of game money. This is a great way for production and crafting characters to sell their ways, as well as in-play items to be bought and sold.

All Hallows

The October event is themed around the War of the Souls, a contest from Entropy that pits the 3 styles of undead against one another with the living as the pawns. In years past the game took place on the frontlines of the War of the Souls, but starting with Season 5 the event began to be more stylized around something called Entropy's Challenge, with the "front lines" happening elsewhere, which allowed players taking their monster shifts to say they went to the front lines to fight.

Remembrance

Usually done during the November or December game, but occasionally done as a one-shot module, the Remembrance event is akin to the real world holidays around honoring those who have served and those who have passed. It is a holiday of the Aeldirmann dutchy and is seen as both a solemn time of mourning as well as a celebration of life of those who passed.

Autumn's Bounty

What started as a player run "spite event" by a member of the Autumn Court of Eldar, Autumn's Bounty is a gathering of those in good faith who come to feast, share stories, and celebrate the Best Season (depending on who you ask). It is Autumn's version of the "Feypril" event, where instead of blessing the seeds of future harvest, instead we celebrate the results of harvest before the seasons shift to winter.

Yule=

Yule is the December celebration, akin to the real world Yule and other winter holidays. It is a time of gathering, feasting, and celebration. Each yule a giant potluck is held with the game providing a large feast, and individuals bringing their own dishes to eat and share with others to show off their own dutchy or racial flair. Gifts are often exchanged, and there are times when merchant booths are set up from both player and outside vendors for both in and out of play currency.

Ratification Day

Taking place in January, either at a weekend event or a one shot, Ratification Day celebrates the signing of the treaty between Ancients and Men, which established the Free Kingdoms of Men on the continent. It is a time of contracts, as retainers and other organizations both recruit as well as renew the deals of their members, trade agreements are certified, and new and existing deals are struck. It is the day of "equals", as commoners are allowed to speak openly and freely with the nobility, airing grievances if need be and negotiating retainership or other arrangements.

Feypril & The Blessing of the Seeds

This event, which takes place in April, is yet another celebration, where Ancients invite those of the Fey races to join in a party which culminates in the "Blessing of the Seeds", an event where beings of nature grant a bountiful harvest. During the day there is singing, dancing, and other games to be played. At night the more mischievous fey come out to play.

The Bazaar of the Moon

Each May either a three-day event, or a one shot, hosts the Bazaar of the Moon. This event is a merchant meet hosted by the Farsini, which climaxes in at least one, if not more, auctions for rare and unique items. This could be magical weapons and armors, unique jewelry, or even rare material components and recipes. Outside vendors, as well as player vendors, set up booths to sell wares for both in and out of play items, using both real world and in-game currency. Sometimes outside vendors are even given unique in-play items as special attractions.

Between Season Events

Because LARPing in Florida during the summer months can be incredibly hot, and even dangerous, when outside, the game has several events that occur during the summer, in addition to any player-run events that will inevitably pop up.

Metrocon

Each year Mythic Adventures has sponsored a Larp Dungeon at Metrocon in Tampa, FL. This event is an introduction to larp, allowing convention patrons to run through a small, 30-45 minute "dungeon crawl" with a limited and simplified rule set. This is a great way to recruit new players to the game! Players are encouraged to volunteer during the event to help run the dungeon, man the advertising booths outside, as well as help out with the convention itself. The players are rewarded with EXP chits and [Volunteer Credits].

At night, once the convention floor closes, Player Adventure Rings are hosted. These are one-shot modules designed to either introduce new plot, or continue existing plots. These are limited run events and are done on a first come, first serve basis. Typically there is one for each night of the convention, and one at the close of the convention before the room is packed away.

Mythic Retreat

This is 2 day event that usually takes place between Metrocon and the start of the season, usually in August. The Mythic Retreat hosts a variety of events for new and existing players. For new players, the game provides tours of the game site as well as workshops run by players and staff to help give information and host Question & Answer sessions. For existing players, more advanced workshops are run on things like prestige groups, alt characters, costuming, and more.

In addition, there are a series of Player Adventure Rings that are run throughout the day. These are limited run events and are done on a first come, first serve basis. Each adventure run helps introduce a new, or continue and existing, plot line to the game.

On Saturday Night we hold a Masquerade Ball, which players are encouraged to dress in their finest and come dance, eat, and mingle in a low combat, high role play environment. This event often introduces new plot to the game, and allows those who bend towards politics and intrigue a chance to flex their muscles, as well as allow bards and storytellers a chance to earn some money!
